Description:
In narrative games, being able to convey emotions with artwork is crucial in making players care for the story. For this reason, animated 2D character-portraits are big in Japan, but they're usually associated with typical anime art-styles.
So what if you wanted to use their software for a semi-realistic style?
With the use of the Japanese software package Live2D Cubism, I created a lively cast of animated characters on a tight indie budget for Herald: An Interactive Period Drama. In this talk I will elaborate on my personal techniques and workflow to give insight into the possibilities of this versatile program.
As a 2D illustrator, I believe that Live2D empowers game artists to take their portrait-art to the next level.
