Chris Reid founded Chris Reid Law in early 2013 and counsels gaming, tech, and creative businesses. Prior to that Chris Reid worked as intellectual property associate at Ropes&Gray LLP for several years, and for the Legal Aid Society, representing low-income tenants in Brooklyn housing court. Chris Reid's motivation stems from his lifelong for games (starting with Ultima III on the Apple ][e). As lawyer, speaker, and gamer Chris Reid is heavily involved in the indie gaming community in New York through lectures at the NYU Game Center Incubator, the IGDA NY Chapter, and Playcrafting. Beyond that he has also spoken on multiple occasions at GDC, Indiecade: East, and Pax East on legal issues in the game industry and for indie developers in particular.

Chris Reid Law is a small firm offering a full range of legal help for creative businesses and individuals. The firm counsels tech companies, start ups, online & interactive entertainment businesses, indie creatives, and has a special focus on the game industry. Chris Reid Law helps both US and international developers doing business with and in the US, to navigate the the legal landscape surrounding the industry. In particular, the firm has recently added expertise in German and EU law to help assist transatlantic development, publishing, and contracting. Chris founding Chris Reid Law in 2013 in Brooklyn, NY after being inspired by the explosion of indie game creativity. Its mission remains the same today: providing expert, responsive, and affordable legal counsel to creative businesses, so that they can get on with making amazing things.
